ACTRA ANNOUNCES NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF COMMERCEXPERT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ARCHITECTURE

Steve Savignano Joins Actra From Manugistics

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (October 7th, 1997) - Actra today announced that Steve Savignano has joined the company as vice president of product development and architecture strategy. In his new role Steve is responsible for defining product and technology direction and overseeing the development and delivery of Actra's CommerceXpert family of Internet commerce application solutions, the next generation of inter-enterprise applications. He joins Actra from Manugistics, the leading provider of Global Supply Chain Management software, where he was vice president of product development. In his position at Manugistics, he built a global product development team and technology strategy, which led the company to record growth.

Before joining Manugistics in 1994, Steve held senior management positions at Digital Equipment Corp. from 1984-1994, including within the development groups responsible for Digital's Software Development Environment Products, UNIX development, and the Artificial Intelligence Technology Group.

Steve has an MS in Computer Science from the University of Lowell, an MBA from Northeastern University, and attended Stanford University Executive Program for Growing Companies.

Actra CommerceXpert is an integrated family of Internet commerce application solutions for conducting commerce over the Internet. The family consists of five products focused on buying, selling and merchandising over the Internet: ECXpert, SellerXpert, BuyerXpert, PublishingXpert and MerchantXpert. All products are now shipping with the exception of BuyerXpert, which goes into beta in Q4 1997. MerchantXpert is currently in its v1.6 release and is currently known in the market place as the Netscape Merchant System.
