SAN FRANCISCO, CA, SEPTEMBER, 23 1997, i+e Conference—GE Information Services today announced it will serve as a worldwide distributor for ECXpert for Windows NT, one product in a full line of Internet Commerce software solutions developed by Actra, a joint venture of GE Information Services and Netscape Communications. ECXpert is a business document gateway based on state-of-the-art Internet technology that allows companies to conduct Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) on the Internet in a quick, cost-effective and highly secure way. This new announcement is a key step in GE’s strategy to extend the benefits of traditional EDI and electronic commerce over the Internet.

ECXpert is the flagship product of Actra’s CommerceXpertTM portfolio. This electronic commerce system, built upon open standards-based, Internet technologies is a comprehensive software solution that addresses the growing demand for secure EDI on the Internet. With a framework that handles secure data communications over private and public networks, ECXpert employs certificates, encryption, authorization and digital signatures to ensure data integrity and security.
