Member, Technical Staff

This highly visible engineering position is responsible for the assessment, verification, and resolution of customer problems as reported through technical support, channels, partners, and end-users. This involves the delivery of software maintenance releases as appropriate. Tasks will include the coding, testing, and releasing of major and minor fixes and possible maintenance releases. This position may require interaction with customers and third party vendors on a fairly technical basis when necessary to resolve a problem.

Required skills

  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • 2-3 years experience in a software development environment with emphasis on problem identification, resolution and delivery in a multiplatform UNIX environment (Solaris, SGI, AIX, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience in testing and testing methodologies
  • Ability to Program in C or C++, Perl, CGI, and Java. Knowledge of and experience in using formal source control systems and processes including shell and make files.
  • Strong SQL database knowledge, with emphasis on Oracle, Sybase, and Informix
  • Knowledge of Network Protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, IIOP, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and on schedule
  • Good oral and written communications skills with an emphasis on customer satisfaction

Preferred skills

  • Project lead/project management experience in a similar enviroment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing various demands and tasks
